# CloudWatch

> Let WeWatch investigate CloudWatch alarms as they fire.

Connecting CloudWatch turns an alarm into a starting point. Instead of paging
someone to go look, WeWatch picks up the alarm and traces it through your
topology to find what caused it and what else it affects.

<Note>
  CloudWatch alerts run on top of an existing AWS connection. Connect
  [AWS](/integrations/aws) first — the setup asks you to pick a healthy AWS
  connection, and can't proceed without one.
</Note>

## Set it up

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start the flow">
    **Integrations → Add Integration → Alert Integration**, then choose
    CloudWatch.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the AWS connection">
    Pick which connected account's alarms to monitor. Only healthy connections
    are listed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    WeWatch subscribes to the account's alarms. New alarm activity now creates
    incidents automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens when an alarm fires

The alarm arrives as an incident. WeWatch investigates it against the live
topology and attaches what it finds — the likely cause, the resources
downstream of it, and recent changes that correlate.

If [Slack](/integrations/slack) is connected, your team can ask follow-up
questions about the incident in the channel.
